Peer injury to teenagers

"A recent survey..in Boston emergency rooms..showed that 50% of children or

adolescents who are victims of violence were injuried by a friend or

acquaintance, which demonstrates that most [pediatric/adolescent] violent

injuries result from peer violence"

"The researchers warn that these minor injuries often are precursors to

more serious violence, and that it is important for health care providers

to recognize the frequency and severity of peer-related injuries among

children"
